Robert Lewandowski must make a decision on his future soon, with an offer from AC Milan reportedly on the table to consider.
As MARCA report, Lewandowski is one of the Barcelona players whose contract expires this June. The Polish striker’s continued presence at the club is causing division within the club’s management, although executives have already hinted at a contract extension with some important conditions.
The player himself is also uncertain about his future. He has several other significant and varied offers on the table that are making him hesitate, but who has come forward?
Lewandowski: Rossoneri in the running
Barcelona are keen to offer him a one-year contract extension and they have already discussed with his representatives the possibility of him staying for another season, until June 2027. At least, that’s the position of most of the executives in the sporting department and Joan Laporta.
However, he must agree to a big pay cut. Lewandowski is one of the highest-paid players at Barca, earning €26m gross this season, in addition to any bonuses he could receive for titles won. Thus, some inside Barcelona believe the time is right to move on and freshen up the attack.
Lewandowski isn’t only considering Barcelona , which is also his family’s preferred option: he’s also weighing up other attractive offers. The former Bayern Munich man is delaying his decision because he’s focused on finishing the season well.
“He has very significant offers from Saudi Arabia ,” Joan Laporta acknowledged just a few days ago. Various Saudi clubs have been sounding him out with huge offers, but so far he has rejected them. The Chicago Fire are one of the clubs making the strongest push, in the MLS.
These two leagues are less competitive than the Spanish league and it would be almost like a retirement, and it’s a step the striker isn’t entirely convinced about yet. Lewandowski also has the option of continuing in another major league: Serie A.
Milan and especially Juventus have stepped forward and are showing interest in signing the 37-year-old, who has 16 goals and three assists in the 37 matches this season across all competitions. Lewandowski is also aware that he will receive even more offers in the coming months.
