Chelsea and Crystal Palace are both due to return to the action following the international break
Real Madrid are keen on signing Enzo Fernandez and Adam Wharton from Chelsea and Crystal Palace respectively, according to Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo. The La Liga giants could try and lure the Premier League pair over to Spain this summer. They are looking to bolster their midfield department in the next transfer window.
Liam Rosenior is starting to come under a bit of pressure at Stamford Bridge. His side have lost their last four in all competitions. As for the Eagles, they need to find a replacement for Oliver Glasner and are weighing up their options.
Real Madrid eye Enzo Fernandez and Adam Wharton deals
Chelsea signed Fernandez back in 2023 and he has since become one of their key players in the middle of the park. Prior to his switch to England, he had spells at River Plate and Benfica. He has made 161 appearances in all competitions, 46 of which have come this season, and he has chipped in with 28 goals.
Crystal Palace snapped up Wharton back in January 2024 after he caught the eye in the Championship at Blackburn Rovers. He has since adapted to life in the top flight with ease and he has played 84 matches for the South London outfit to date. The 22-year-old has made four caps for England and will only get better over the coming years.
Real Madrid will see Fernandez and Wharton as two players who could boost their squad for next term. After signing the latter, Palace chairman Steve Parish said at the time: “I’m delighted that Adam, a player whose rapid development we have followed closely, has decided to join us at Crystal Palace.
“Adam’s consistently impressive performances for Blackburn at such a young age have understandably caught the eye of many a club, but we believe Palace to be – as has so often been the case in recent years – the perfect place to harness his undoubted potential, and we look forward to working with him in the years ahead to do so.”
Meanwhile, Wharton added: "I've always wanted to play in the Premier League and to play for such a big club like Crystal Palace is a great honour. The way they've brought players from the Championship and developed them into world-class players in the Premier League is something that stood out to me, and it's a big reason why I wanted to come here."
