Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's company, TMRW Sports, is teaming up with the NFL to launch a professional flag football league.
Woods has been front and center of the golf headlines this week, after he was arrested just days after his 2026 TGL debut for a DUI, which also resulted in him flipping his Range Rover. The 15-time major winner ended up going to jail before being released on bail, with his girlfriend Vanessa Trump's concerned to furious reaction to the incident since emerging.

Away from the drama of his arrest, Woods and McIlroy's TGL was just coming off its championship, which was won by Los Angeles Golf Club, who defeated the former's Jupiter Links to win the 2026 title. TGL, which stands for TMRW Golf League, was founded back in 2022 and is a venture backed by TMRW Sports, a company launched and owned by Woods and McIlroy alongside Mike McCarley. It comes with Woods set to make an unexpected fortune from his humiliating car crash and arrest.

This week, the NFL's Annual League Meeting is taking place in Phoenix, Arizona, with a host of issues on the agenda. And it has now been confirmed that TMRW Sports will partner with the NFL to develop a professional flag football league for men and women.
A statement from NFL Media read, "The NFL announced today that it is partnering with TMRW Sports to develop and operate a professional flag football league for women and men. The new professional league will launch with support from a broad and influential investor pool, including NFL clubs, established institutional and strategic investors, and current and former NFL players."

A number of high-profile former players are set to be involved in the flag football league, including Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Joe Montana, Steve Young, and Larry Fitzgerald. The sport is set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, with the success of Woods and McIlroy's TGL part of the reason the NFL decided to partner with TMRW Sports.
TMRW Sports CEO, Mike McCarley, said, "For more than three decades, the NFL has made a significant investment in flag football at the grassroots levels, including youth, high school and college.

"And now with the inclusion of flag football in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, TMRW Sports shares a vision with the NFL to further fuel fandom and participation worldwide with the development of a professional flag football league.
"As the elite competitive tier of flag football, this league will mark a new era for the sport as the world’s best compete in a fast-paced format that aligns with the evolving media consumption of today’s sports fans."
All 32 NFL teams have given their seal of approval to move ahead with the league, which is set to receive an investment of up to $32 million to support the launch of the professional flag football league.

Seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Brady, who recently competed in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, added, "Flag football represents so much of what makes this game special, showcasing the skill, creativity, and competitiveness that define this sport.
"Flag football’s rapid rise has been incredible, and the extensive list of current and former players supporting this league shows just how strongly athletes believe in its future. I’m excited to help take this sport to even greater heights through the launch of a professional flag football league."
