New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson inserted himself into one of the biggest stories in sports on Monday.
If you haven't seen what happened, prepare for some significant background...
The Chicago Bulls waived shooting guard Jaden Ivey “due to conduct detrimental to the team” on Monday.
Ivey, who was acquired via a three-team trade with the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves on February 3, had increasingly started posting on social media about his religious beliefs and recently made anti-LGBTQ comments while criticizing the NBA for celebrating Pride Month -- saying it all falls under the umbrella of “unrighteousness.” Ivey's release sparked plenty of conversation on social media, including some head-turning comments from Henderson.
Henderson, who has also been outspoken in his religious beliefs, seemingly supported the recently-released shooting guard on social media, posting: "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:10"
It's safe to say that the decision to insert himself into the conversation has only served bring out further comment from those around him, including head coach Mike Vrabel.

“I want them to be able to express what they believe in their heart and in their mind, but also want to make sure that they're educated, and we want to be inclusive," Vrabel said during his media session at the NFL's Annual Meetings on Tuesday. "We want to provide an environment for people to feel comfortable, but also to share their personal beliefs. And then also, we represent the team, and we represent the organization.”
Henderson has continued to share Bible verses on X, which probably won't stop any time soon.
Vrabel said that he supports players being able to make their voices heard, but added that there needs to be thought about how those things impact the team.
The Patriots will hope that his social media activity doesn't lead to anything more, however.
