New Study Hands Patriots, Eliot Wolf Surprisingly Low Marks For Free Agency Moves

The New England Patriots haven't necessarily been as busy as they were in free agency last offseason, but they still have made several notable moves in an effort to bolster their roster. And yet, it appears as if the work the front office, which is led by general manager Eliot Wolf, has put in hasn't made fans happy.

The Pats have made several splash signings, with Romeo Doubs, Alijah Vera-Tucker, Dre'Mont Jones and Kevin Byard highlighting their crop of incoming players. New England has also lost several key contributors, though, with K'Lavon Chaisson, Jaylinn Hawkins, Khyiris Tonga and Jack Gibbens finding new homes on the open market.

Put it all together, and the Pats have had one of the most polarizing starts to the offseason across the league. While some folks like what the team has done, others are upset with Wolf's lack of action. In a new study from Betway, which sought to measure how each general manager's offseason moves were received across the league, Wolf ranked 25th out of all 32 GMs in terms of his overall popularity among fans.

The study has relied on a social monitoring tool to track social media posts revolving around each team's work in free agency. And while the Pats, as noted above, have been active, Wolf has a positive sentiment rating of just 22% on posts about the team's work in free agency.

Time will tell whether or not New England has improved itself for the 2026 campaign. For the time being, though, it seems like Wolf is going to need to put together a strong body of work in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft if he wants to improve his popularity among the team's fanbase.
