The future of Gabriel jesus will likely dominate Arsenal transfer headlines this summer.

Arsenal have an interesting summer ahead, with some big decisions lying ahead of Mikel Arteta. Arteta will hope to be operating on the back of a title-winning season, and that does look likely, while a treble season is still possible.

What’s interesting about this summer is that Arsenal will need to decide which positions they can upgrade, and it is far from obvious where they can upgrade.

Though, some of that decision-making might become organic, with some of the fringe players likely to be offered the chance to become starters at other clubs. That could lead to gaps opening up in the squad, but there are also some contract decisions to make.

One involved Gabriel Jesus, who is only under contract until 2027, and the Brazilian is fighting for a new deal. Coming off the back of a serious knee injury, the Brazilian is now hoping to prove his quality and fitness, but it is not easy behind Viktor Gyokeres and Kai Havertz, who are preferred options.

Jesus has been linked with a move back to Brazil, but it looks as though that option is off the table. According to ESPN Brasil, Jesus’ priority is to win a new deal at Arsenal and to stay with the club long term.

But interestingly, if Jesus does not get a new deal at Arsenal, it’s reported that he wants to join another Premier League club this summer, keen to remain in England for now.

That will disappoint a club or two in Brazil, but it might mean Arsenal can look forward to an increased transfer fee if they do end up selling Jesus this summer. The striker’s future will be one of the most interesting factors of the Arsenal summer transfer window.
