Arsenal star refuses to sign Premier League winners badge because he doesn’t want to jinx it

Arsenal are on course to win the Premier League title this season, but Riccardo Calafiori was not willing to autograph a champions badge just yet for fear he would jinx his team.

With just seven games to go, Arsenal are nine points clear of Man City at the top of the Premier League table, though Pep Guardiola’s side do have a game in hand.

It would take a big turnaround for the Gunners to throw away their lead at this point, but Calafiori is clearly not taking things for granted.

Fan asks Calafiori to sign PL winner’s badge early

In a clip shared on TikTok, Calafiori was asked for his autograph and was about to oblige before he saw what he was being prompted to sign.

The fan produced a handful of heat transfer patches depicting the Premier League trophy, something that is often applied to football shirts to celebrate a team winning the title.

Calafiori refused to sign the badges, saying: “This one, no. I won’t sign that. We didn’t win yet.”

However, the Italian defender has good reason not to sign, insisting he is “superstitious” and doesn’t want to tempt fate by putting his name to this very presumptuous autograph.

Although, the autograph would like burn away regardless, once heat transfer is used on the patch (if and when Arsenal win the league). But, that won’t be an issue for this fan, as he will simply have to wait for the title celebrations and try to get Calafiori’s signature then.
