New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel fielded numerous questions on Tuesday at the 2026 NFL owners’ meetings in Arizona, one of which was centered around TreVeyon Henderson’s recent social media activity.

The running back recently appeared to show his support for Jaden Ivey, an NBA guard who was recently waived by the Chicago Bulls due to his anti-LGBTQ comments.

“I want to tell you, I love TreVeyon,” Vrabel said. “I love the person. He cares deeply about our team. He cares deeply about his faith. He cares deeply about his family, his wife, and the people in our building. And so, I want them to be able to express what they believe in their heart and in their mind, but also want to make sure that they’re educated, and we want to be inclusive.”

“Everything we want to do — we want to provide an environment for people to one, feel comfortable, but also to share their personal beliefs, and then also we represent the team and we represent the organization,” Vrabel added.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Henderson responded to a post regarding the Bulls’ decision to waive Ivey. The running back, who is very open about his faith, posted a Bible verse. “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven,” he wrote.

Vrabel was also asked if he intends to address Henderson’s comments with the team, but instead talked about his goal in having an open line of communication with the players and coaches at all times.

“I think that’s something that we try to do, constantly,” Vrabel said. “Somebody asked me last year, ‘How are you going to keep them off their phones?’ Like, yeah, keep you guys off your phones. There’s 19 phones lying on the table.

“We just want to educate them to — I’m never going to tell them how to feel — certainly want to make sure that they understand that their actions represent something more than just themselves. I do think there’s a fine line. We’re always talking about those kinds of things. We’re trying to educate them. No different than myself or you guys or my kids.”

On Monday, March 30, the Chicago Bulls released a statement regarding their decision to waive Ivey.

“The Chicago Bulls announced today that the team has waived guard Jaden Ivey due to conduct detrimental to the team,” the team wrote.

It came shortly after the guard shared a video on his Instagram account, speaking out against the league’s celebration of Pride Month. Then, after the team’s statement was released, he spoke out on Instagram Live regarding the decision.

“How is my conduct detrimental to the team? Because of what I believe? Because of what the truth is?” Ivey said in the video.
