Packers Could Still Play Overseas

One of the more interesting nuggets from Ed Policy’s media availability at the annual NFL’s owners meetings was that the Green Bay Packers could be playing overseas in 2026.

On Tuesday, Packers beat writer Matt Schneidman posted on X that the Packers could play the Lions or Saints as an away opponent in Europe this season.

Ed Policy said it’s still possible for the Packers to play the Lions in Munich or the Saints in Paris in the 2026 season. Would be a Packers “away” game.

The NFL started playing games internationally in 2006 with an Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers contest in Mexico City. The first game played in the London series was in 2007 with the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins playing at Wembley Stadium.

So far the Packers have played just two international games, both coming since the league expanded to 17 regular season games.

NFL's 2026 International Games Schedule

Site Home Team Away Team

Melbourne, Australia Los Angeles Rams San Francisco 49ers

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil Dallas Cowboys

Mexico City, Mexico San Francisco 49ers

London, U.K. Washington Commanders

London, U.K. Jacksonville Jaguars (x2)

Paris, France New Orleans Saints

Munich, Germany Detroit Lions

Madrid, Spain Atlanta Falcons

In 2022, the Packers lost to the Giants 27-22, playing at London’s Tottenham Stadium In 2024, in the league’s fist game played in Brazil, the Packers lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 34-29, playing in Sao Paolo.

The Packers schedule this year includes playing the entire NFC South (Falcons, Panthers at home; Saints, Bucs on road); NFC opponents (home to Cowboys, at Rams) the entire AFC East (Bills, Dolphins at home; Patriots, Jets on road); extra AFC opponent (home to Texans).

If the Packers play the Saints in Paris, it would be the second-straight time in the series that a Packers at Saints game would take place away from New Orleans. In 2021, the two teams played in Jacksonville, Florida because the Saints were displaced by Hurricane Ida.
