Jerry Jones Gets Brutally Honest on Maxx Crosby Trade to Cowboys Odds

The Dallas Cowboys were heavily linked to Maxx Crosby earlier this offseason. Crosby nearly became the NFL blockbuster trade story when the Las Vegas Raiders agreed in principle to send him to the Baltimore Ravens for two first-round picks. The deal fell apart after Crosby reportedly failed his physical following meniscus surgery.

Before Baltimore entered the picture, Dallas made multiple pushes for the two-time All-Pro. One reported offer included the Cowboys’ No. 12 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft and a 2027 second-round selection. However, that offer failed to beat Baltimore’s bid.

Now that Crosby is back in Las Vegas, Jones does not sound interested in reopening talks. He has poured cold water on the idea of the Raiders star landing in Dallas before the 2026 season.

“I don’t anticipate revisiting that situation. Is it possible? Yes,” Jones said.

The five-time Pro Bowler would have instantly upgraded a Dallas defense searching for pass-rush help after moving on from Micah Parsons. Instead, the Cowboys appear more likely to target a young EDGE rusher in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Cowboys pushed hard to land Crosby, reportedly making three separate trade offers for the Raiders star, but after the Baltimore Ravens outbid them at every turn, only to later pull out of the deal. Talking about the drama at the NFL’s Annual Meeting, Jerry Jones made it clear he understands why it happened.

Baltimore had agreed to send two first-round picks to Las Vegas for Crosby. According to reports, Ravens doctors raised concerns about a degenerative issue in the pass rusher’s knee.

Jones believes the criticism aimed at Baltimore is misplaced because every trade depends on a clean medical review.

“For me, there’s no hidden item there,” Jones said. “You have to pass a physical. You have to. And we’ve never completed an agreement until the player passes a physical. That implies that your doctors, your trainers and everybody involved gets to take a look at him. That goes with the territory. We would have basically had the same conditions with the physical. As you know, we were in on making an offer for him. So he would have come to Dallas, and we’ll all just guess what would have happened.”

The Cowboys owner also noted Dallas would have approached the situation the same way if Crosby had been traded to Arlington.
