"Watching him closely": Arsenal are interested in signing £32m star "likely to leave" his club

Arsenal are closely watching Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento ahead of a potential transfer this summer, according to The Telegraph.

The Gunners currently have Jurrien Timber as the regular right-back option, and Ben White has provided deputy when the Dutchman has been absent.

White will enter the last two years of his contract in the summer, and it has been claimed that he could leave in the search for regular first-team football.

Everton are interested in signing the former Brighton & Hove Albion man, and Arsenal may seek to replace him with a younger recruit this summer.

The Telegraph now confirm that the Gunners are interested in landing Livramento, whose contract with Newcastle expires in the summer of 2028.

Livramento ‘looks likely to leave’ the Magpies amid his contract standoff. He could be sold for £60 million, almost twice the money paid by Newcastle to Southampton in 2023 (£32 million).

The Gunners are ‘watching him closely’ but they could face competition from Manchester City, who explored a potential transfer deal last summer.

Livramento would be a risky acquisition

Livramento has had the knack for picking up injuries in his career, and the trend has continued with knee and hamstring injuries in the current campaign.

He has missed 30 matches for club and country with three separate injuries. When fit, he has been a regular starter for the Magpies in both full-back positions.

Livramento is a natural on the right side, being right footed. Arsenal may see him as a replacement for White, and he could compete for places with Timber next term.

The Chelsea graduate has completed 89 percent of his passes in the league this season. He has made five recoveries and two clearances per game for the Tyneside outfit.

He has the traits to become a leading right-back in future.

Arsenal could recoup part of the £60m price tag with White’s sale. Still, Livramento would be a risky acquisition, given his worrying injury record in his young career.
