Mike Vrabel Sends Stefon Diggs Message As Patriots Try To Replace His Production

The New England Patriots lost Stefon Diggs this offseason and signed Stefon Diggs to try to replace him.

Doubs is coming from an offense where he was simply one talented receiver in a very deep room. The Green Bay Packers offense was built on spreading the ball. Now, he's coming to a Patriots team that saw Stefon Diggs record 25 more receptions than the next leading pass catcher. Doubs has the talent to be a true No. 1 receiver, but replacing Diggs will not be easy.

Diggs was a 1,000-tard receiver last season, and Mike Vrabel recently spoke about the impact he made on the team and how replacing him will be difficult.

"It's literally about targets, the efficiency," Vrabel said on Tuesday, per ESPN's Mike Reiss. "We all appreciate what Stef did and I really loved being able to coach him -- the efficiency in which he was able to catch the ball was impressive.

"So whether that's Drake's accuracy, ball location or Stef's ability to catch it, that's something that we'll have to recreate. I'm not worried about the catches and the overall production. I think we can recreate that. We just have to be very mindful that the efficiency in which we throw and catch it is important."

Doubs has never recorded more than 59 passes in a season. He does not have to bear all of the load of replacing Diggs, however. The Patriots will want to see Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas and Kyle Williams step up as well. The Patriots could still add a receiver through trade or the NFL Draft, but Vrabel knows that replacing Diggs will take some work.
