Marc Cucurella has been the latest Chelsea player to question the direction the club are going in, and Fabrizio Romano has given an update on his situation in West London.
Cucurella did an interview questioning why the Blues decided to part ways with Enzo Maresca halfway through the season, believing the decision should have been made in the summer.
This comes just days after Enzo Fernandez has cast doubt over his future, with Chelsea really needing to avoid their top stars jumping ship at this stage of the project.
SEMI-FINAL TWO: Maresca vs Terry!
Despite some damning comments from the Spaniard, Romano has clarified that this has been done with no intention of leaving the club.
He said on his YouTube channel that the left-back is trying to send a clear message that they did not agree with the decision, although is not considering any proposal from Barcelona at the minute.

He said: “Big interview made by Marc Cucurella. Let’s first of all clarify – Marc Cucurella was asked several times about Barcelona, his former club.
“Cucurella has made it clear several times how he loves Barcelona as a club, but when he was asked about that, Cucurella was very clear, ‘I’m fully focused at Chelsea’, so Cucurella didn’t open doors to anything.
“Today, in an interview with The Athletic, Cucurella sent a very important message to the club, saying with Enzo Maresca, we have a very strong relationship, and in my opinion, it was not the best solution to sack the manager mid-season.
“Strong messages coming from one of the leaders and faces of this Chelsea project. He is a player who likes to have some kind of leadership, but to send a message to the club. He’s not doing that against Chelsea, or against someone. He is only speaking to send the best message possible to Chelsea, and the fans. This was the clear mission.”
Chelsea at Cucurella crossroads
Cucurella has just over a year left on his contract at Stamford Bridge, with a decision having to be made soon over whether that will be extended or not.
The Blues will obviously not be looking to lose one of their most important players for a limited fee, but handing a new deal to one of the club’s older players would be against their usual direction.
The improving form of Jorrel Hato could also make the decision tricky, as well as the fact Cucurella has picked up a hamstring injury this season which could reoccur.
Whatever happens with the Spaniard, his message should be heard loud and clear by the club, who are facing a big summer to keep supporters invested in the direction they are heading.
