Ecuador press drop verdict on Chelsea star Moises Caicedo's display vs Jorrel Hato

The Ecuadorian press has delivered a glowing verdict on Moises Caicedo’s display against the Netherlands, where he came up against his Chelsea teammate Jorrel Hato.

Moises Caicedo put in a dominant display in Ecuador’s 1-1 draw against the Netherlands, finishing the match with an impressive 94% pass completion rate and leading his side in ball recoveries.

His ability to disrupt the Dutch build-up and transition quickly into attack was central to Ecuador’s dominant 66% possession, especially after Denzel Dumfries’ early red card.

Making it two impressive performances from two, after Caicedo’s display against Morocco.

The match also featured Chelsea teammate Jorrel Hato. He was introduced as a 76th-minute substitute for Nathan Ake. And the two Blues briefly clashed in the final stages, with Caicedo drawing a foul from the young Dutchman during a surging run into the final third.

Ecuador press give Moises Caicedo his praise

Primicias delivered the player ratings once again for the Ecuador national team, and Moises Caicedo was given a 7.5/10 for his performance.

‘He was mentioned less than in the match against Morocco, but that did not mean that he was indecisive in three quarters of the field. His exquisite pass to Gonzalo Plata led to the penalty of the first half. In addition, he teamed up properly with Vite and Plata to circulate the ball and generate danger.’

Moises Caicedo failed his only dribble, was dispossessed twice, had 99 touches, a passing accuracy percentage of 94, created two chances, completed 16 passses into the final third, failed all four of his cross attempts, completed one of four accurate long balls, one interception, seven recoveries, three clearances, won just one of eight duels and commited two fouls (FotMob).

Jorrel Hato’s statistics for the Netherlands

Jorrel Hato won two and lost two duels, two tackles, one block, one clearance, 10 touches and completed three out of five passes in a short cameo.

It’s a step in the right direction for Hato after going unused in the first friendly against Norway, but it won’t have helped his Chelsea cause too much.

However, Ronald Koeman did say that he was pleased with Hato’s development.
