Berta not messing around: Genuine chance Real Madrid sell one of their best talents to Arsenal

Real Madrid could be prepared to offload a regular starter in the summer transfer window, and Arsenal have now entered the race for his signature.

Gunners gearing up for Southampton clash

Although Mikel Arteta's side were unable to get over the line in the EFL Cup final, succumbing to a 2-0 defeat against Manchester City at Wembley, they still hold all the cards in the Premier League title race, having built up a nine-point lead on Pep Guardiola's side.

The Gunners are also competing for the FA Cup, travelling to St. Mary's to take on Southampton in the quarter-final this weekend, with a tie against Sporting CP in the Champions League quarter-final also set to take place next month.

Heading into an important stage of the season, it will be important for Arteta to have his best players available, and the manager has recently been given an encouraging injury update on Eberechi Eze.

Eze and Martin Odegaard have struggled with injuries at times this season, with the latter missing 11 Premier League games due to a variety of issues this season, and the north Londoners are now keen to bring in even more depth in attacking midfield this summer.

Berta planning talks to sign Real Madrid star

According to a report from TEAMtalk, Arsenal have now burst into the race to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler, and there is now a genuine possibility the Spanish side could be willing to offload the Turkish playmaker in the summer.

In fact, sporting director Andrea Berta is determined to open talks about a deal for Guler, who is also of interest to Chelsea and Liverpool, with all three clubs viewing the Madrid maestro as a 'generational talent', capable of operating in a number of attacking areas.

Arda Guler for Real Madrid

Although the La Liga heavyweights seemingly haven't been overly impressed by the Turk, he has certainly caught the eye at international level, most recently scoring in a 1-0 victory against Romania to send his side to the World Cup play-off final.

At 21-years-old, the starlet is still in the infancy of his career, but he has proven himself as a reliable source of assists for Real Madrid, setting up 13 goals this season, while also providing four goals in 45 outings.

Guler, who pockets £85k-a-week, evidently has the talent to flourish at the Emirates Stadium, but strengthening other areas of the squad may be a better move, considering Arteta already has Odegaard and Eze at his disposal.
