Former Chelsea Star Pinpoints "Worrying" Signs As He Explains Why Rosenior Is Already Under Pressure

Ex-Chelsea player Pat Nevin thinks Liam Rosenior will only be given more time in the dugout if he avoids more “worrying” performances like the 3-0 defeat to Everton.

Speaking to Betarades.gr, Nevin said it would be entirely “unfair” to sack the 41-year-old at this stage, but if he is not able to improve the club’s form, his position will inevitably be placed in jeopardy:

“There are elements of pressure. Especially if the remaining displays are as concerning and worrying as the Everton one.”

“PSG you can take to some degree because they’re a fabulous team. The Everton game was worrying. Being outran, outchased and outplayed by Everton is worrying. You can spend all your life watching as much data as you like, you ain’t winning games if that’s the case. Somehow, the manager has got to adapt to that.”

“But then it gets complicated. Why is that happening? Is it the coach? Is it injuries? Is it limited leadership? Is it that they’re exhausted, having not had a break since the summer before last? The ownership needs to figure that out.”

What are the chances of Rosenior being sacked?

Recent results have seriously shortened the odds that Chelsea will part ways with their manager. He is currently 3/1 to be the next Premier League coach to leave his post.

Unfortunately for Rosenior, he arrived at Stamford Bridge with not much credit in the bank. He had never managed in the Premier League before, and he was characterised as a ‘yes’ man for the current owners.

It meant that he was only one poor run away from being put under pressure, and the current four-game losing streak means he can’t afford any more slip-ups.

Who do Chelsea play next month?

The Blues take on Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-final this weekend. If they do make it through, they will also have a trip to Wembley in late April.

In terms of league games, they have back-to-back home fixtures against Manchester City and Manchester United before they travel to Brighton at the end of the month.
