Chicago Bears 2026 NFL Mock Draft: Multiple paths to building the Bears roster

April has officially arrived, which means that the 2026 NFL Draft is set to take place in just over three weeks. The Chicago Bears enter year two of the Ben Johnson-Ryan Poles era with the goal of adding to a foundation that was established last season. With four picks inside the top 100, Poles and Johnson will have plenty of opportunity to add to a roster that has talent at key positions.

New to the Bear Report, writers Usayd Koshul and Andrew Freeman teamed up for a 2026 Chicago Bears mock draft with the goal of breaking down different scenarios that could play out at Halas Hall throughout draft weekend. No trades were made while Usayd and Andrew each selected two different sets of players while providing analysis of each pick and discussing what this draft class could mean for the Bears, along with thoughts on each other's draft class.

Before the drafting officially begins, Usayd and Andrew offered some quick thoughts on the overall state of this draft class and what the Bears brass should be able to accomplish this draft cycle. Check out some of the thoughts below before proceeding to the official mock draft.

Koshul: This is a polarizing draft class, and it doesn't really matter how the board falls. At some point, the Bears will be forced to make some really tough decisions. Considering the pool of talent, if the Bears can walk away with at least two day one starters and long-term depth pieces, I'd say the draft class was successful overall. The storyline we've spent all season talking about is how the Bears need an infusion of talent on defense, especially at key positions such as edge rusher and safety. While finding an instant impact player at both positions sounds great, it's easier said than done. But the reality is that having picks near the end of the first three rounds may not allow for finding instant impact players in an already weak draft class. That's simply the price of having a winning season the year before.

Freeman: This draft is a tough one to project given the lack of quarterback talent and blue chip prospects at the top. While this may be a weaker draft class compared to previous years, there are still plenty of good players available, and it is on the Bears' front office to find those players. The Bears have needs all over the roster. Defensively, the defensive line leaves a lot to be desired, while the secondary could use an additional starter at safety. On offense, this unit largely looks solid but needs a long-term answer at center and depth elsewhere. Ultimately, the Bears have the opportunity to fill many of their key needs in this draft. With that said, they can't pass up on good prospects and reach on players just to fill needs. There has to be a balance between going best player available and addressing weak spots on the roster.

Let's get into Usayd and Andrew's respective mock drafts.
