“He’s the guy that’s going to lead us to the promised land,” Glenntold reporters. This statement confirms Smith as the starter for the 2026 season. The Jets acquired Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for a 2026 6th-round draft pick.

Smith had a difficult 2025 season with the Raiders. He threw 17 interceptions, which was the highest number in the league. He finished the year with 3,025 yards and 19 touchdowns. Despite these struggles, Glenn remains confident in the veteran.
