Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has been offered suport in the wake of the deplorable chanting that was heard during Spain’s friendly with Egypt on Tuesday night at the RCDE Stadium.
Yamal has put out a statement to condemn the “disrespectful and intolerable” chants that were heard in the first half of the game.
Berni Álvarez, the minister for sports in Catalonia, told reporters on Wednesday that Yamal has been affected by the incident and that support will be offered to the youngster.
“It’s normal that he’s affected by what happened,” he said. “We will try and support him if we can make contact with him.
”What happened was deplorable. It’s an extremely serious issue which we absolutely condemn. It’s a massive step backwards.”
Alvarez also said that he has requested information from the relevant footballing authorities about “what can be done and what decisions they plan to take” and insisted he would “demand decisive action.”
