Liverpool learn new Chelsea kickoff time as Premier League await PSG result

Liverpool face an early kickoff for their penultimate home game of the Premier League against Chelsea – but victory over Paris Saint-Germain will change that.

Chelsea are set to visit Anfield for a 12.30pm kickoff on Saturday, May 9 as part of the latest round of TV picks.

The fixture is set to be broadcast live by TNT Sports and could prove decisive in both clubs’ push for a top-five finish.

However, the Premier League have already confirmed that the game would move to an 8pm kickoff if Liverpool progress to the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Why beating PSG would move Liverpool vs. Chelsea kickoff

That comes with Liverpool’s potential semi-final second leg being locked in for Wednesday, May 6 which would mean too short a turnaround between then and a lunchtime start on the Saturday.

Liverpool’s ongoing participation in the Champions League and FA Cup means there remains uncertainty over a number of dates in the Premier League run-in.

The home clash Crystal Palace is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 25 but would need to move if the Reds reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

Similarly the trip to Aston Villa which marks the final away game of the season would also be rescheduled in the event Arne Slot‘s side reach the final of the FA Cup.

The maximum number of games Liverpool can still play this term is 15 – if they make it to both finals – which would mean their campaign would conclude with the Champions League final on May 30.

Chelsea are currently sixth in the Premier League, a place and a point behind Liverpool in fifth, with Brentford, Everton, Fulham, Brighton and Sunderland all within six points of the Reds.

A five-point gap separates fourth-placed Aston Villa and the current champions while Man United have a six-point lead over the Reds.
