Manchester United will travel across Europe this summer, playing pre‑season friendlies in Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Republic of Ireland and Poland in July and August. According to The Athletic, United plan to move around Europe for their warm‑up games, starting with Wrexham in Helsinki, Finland on July 18.

United will then face Rosenborg in Trondheim, Norway on July 24, Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, Sweden on August 1, Paris Saint‑Germain in Gothenburg, Sweden on August 8, Leeds United at Croke Park in Dublin on August 12, and AC Milan in Wroclaw, Poland on August 15.

They also add that there was interest from Asia about staging friendlies there, but appear to have opted against it.

Although United are no strangers to Scandinavia, they have played only one competitive match in neighbouring Finland - a 3–2 win over HJK in the first leg of a European Cup tie, followed by a 6-0 victory in the return leg at Old Trafford.

However, they have never played a competitive match in Norway, with Bodo/Glimt becoming the first Norwegian side to visit M16 during their Europa League tie in 2024.

It's said their final friendly will take place before the World Cup final on July 19, and players involved with their national teams will be entitled to a break once their campaigns conclude.

Out of the squad, Benjamin Sesko, Bryan Mbeumo, Patrick Dorgu, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund will not represent their countries at the World Cup.

Hojlund and Onana are currently out on loan at Trabzonspor and Napoli respectively. The latter is expected to return to Manchester in the summer, while Napoli have a £38m obligation to buy the striker.

That clause will be triggered if Napoli qualify for next season's Champions League. They sit third in Serie A with eight games remaining.

With the international break nearing its end, Michael Carrick's side will resume their Premier League campaign as they push for Champions League qualification.

They host Leeds United on Monday, April 13 before travelling to Chelsea the following weekend.

Carrick's immediate impact has seen United climb to third in the standings with seven games left in the season.
