While midfield remains the priority, Manchester United’s search for an upgrade at left-back has been growing in recent weeks, with Samuel Dahl the latest name to be added to the shortlist.

Manchester United linked with move for Samuel Dahl
The interest comes according to a report by Wednesday’s edition of Record in Portugal, which claims that Dahl has emerged as a possible left-back signing for United this summer.
The Benfica full-back has been watched by United scouts this season more than 10 times, with the scouting reports being largely positive.
United have been impressed with Dahl’s physical robustness and ability to adapt with his versatility.

The transfer is reportedly in the works already, with a move being considered, but it won’t be cheap as he has a contract running until 2029. Benfica will demand a premium, considering Roma holds a 40 per cent sell-on clause, although a move shouldn’t cost more than £20m.
This would make Dahl a better option than United’s interest in Nathaniel Brown, who could be very costly this summer.
If you were Man United’s director of football with £200m to spend in the summer, what would be your dream window?

Who is Manchester United target Samuel Dahl?
Dahl is a 23-year-old left-back from Sweden who currently plays under Jose Mourinho at Benfica.
The youngster has already lived a storied career, starting with Vasteras IK in Sweden before moving to AIK, Orebro and then Djugarden in 2023, where he really kicked on.
He therefore earned a move to Roma, from where he was sent on loan to Benfica and now finds himself attracting interest from the Premier League.
Dahl is among the most creative full-backs in Portugal right now, and he is also a very competent tackler.
He has all the qualities to be a top-level modern left-back, and United’s interest is well placed as he has the potential to get even better.
