Live: Chelsea vs Arsenal
Chelsea take on Arsenal in the second leg of their Women’s Champions League quarter-final this evening, looking to overturn their first-leg deficit. Sonia Bompastor’s side fell to a 3-1 defeat at the Emirates Stadium last time out. Renee Slegers’ side are within touching distance of another semi-final, with the Gunners out to defend their European crown that they won back in May last year, beating Barcelona 1-0 in the final thanks to Stina Blackstenius’ goal.
Now, the onus is on Bompastor’s side, last year’s domestic treble winners, to spark an unlikely comeback, which appears near-impossible considering their injury crisis, with five players sidelined for this encounter, including Aggie Beever-Jones, Niamh Charles and Mayra Ramirez. Nathalie Bjorn is out with a calf problem and Brooke Aspin is sidelined longer term.
Johanna Rytting Kaneryd has been passed fit while Bompastor allayed fears over Lauren James, Lucy Bronze and Sjoeke Nusken all training alone ahead of this crunch clash, claiming that the trio would all be avaialble for this game. Keep up to date with all the latest with our live blog below.
