The Dolphins are set to meet with a quarterback
After parting ways with most of the team’s high-priced players, the Miami Dolphins are focusing on the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft as they look to rebuild their roster. With seven selections in the first 100 picks, Miami has an opportunity to load up on talent for years to come.
However, despite Miami’s roster needing work, the team hopes it is already set at certain positions. One of those positions is the team’s quarterback,as they signed top free agent quarterback Malik Willis to a three-year, $67 million contract. With $45 million guaranteed, his contract practically ensures that he will be a member of the Dolphins for the next two seasons, unless things go drastically wrong, as happened with previous quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.
As a result, despite the team’s faith in Willis, they are doing due diligence on the position. Prior to signing Willis,Miami’s general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan had stated, “We will draft quarterbacks every year, if not every other year, because I think you have to.” Now, the Dolphins have set up a meeting with a quarterback that nearly led the Miami Hurricanes to a championship.
Miami Dolphins Set to Meet With Carson Beck
A new report stated that the Miami Dolphins are set to meet with former Miami Hurricanes and Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. The Dolphins have 30 available meetings, and have also set up a meeting with Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson.
Beck threw for 3,813 passing yards and 30 touchdowns as he led the Miami Hurricanes to an appearance in the National Championship game, where Miami lost to the Indiana Hoosiers, who were led by the likely No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.
The Dolphins last drafted a quarterback in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft as they selected Quinn Ewers. Ewers ended up starting the final three games of the season for the Dolphins after Tagovailoa was benched. Despite Ewers likely being relegated to the backup position after Willis’ signing, Miami likely still feels the need to address the position.
Carson Beck Prospect Profile
Unlike Ty Simpson, the Dolphins would likely not have to use one of their early picks on Beck, as he is not projected to be selected in the first round of the draft. ESPN’s Matt Miller had Beck going to the Arizona Cardinals, who have also set up a meeting with him, with the No. 65 pick in his latest mock draft. Miami holds three picks prior to the No. 65 selection.
Regarding Beck as a prospect,The Ringer’s NFL analyst Todd McShay wrote:
“Beck has the prototypical NFL quarterback build, with excellent height, a sturdy frame, and 10-inch hands. He operates primarily as a pocket passer and has strong field vision, although he lacks the high-end arm talent typically associated with his size and offers limited mobility. His experience stands out, with 43 career starts and extensive exposure to high-level competition, including two SEC championship appearances and four CFP games. He finished his career 18-4 against ranked opponents.
His most notable improvement in 2025 was his processing speed, as he moved through progressions more quickly and played with greater confidence and decisiveness. He trusts his reads, understands where to go with the ball, and delivers it without hesitation when he sees a window. His ball security also improved significantly.”
