Crystal Palace have now expressed strong interest in signing a "special" player this summer, and there are indications a deal could be possible.
Palace eyeing signings for post-Glasner era
Oliver Glasner burned some of his bridges with the Palace fans this season, after hitting out at the club's hierarchy back in January, before announcing his intention to leave at the end of the season.
However, Glasner recently insisted he doesn't have any remorse for the way he handled the situation, saying: "I don't have regrets, honestly. I'm very honest. I never tell somebody what he wants to hear, I always tell them what is my opinion, what is my feeling. It doesn't mean that it's always right.
"But I think everybody deserves to hear how I'm feeling, how I see some things that happened or that's going on. Not everybody has to be delighted with my opinion, to be honest."
After bringing a 12-game winless run to an end at the beginning of February, the Eagles have gone on to record victories against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Tottenham Hotspur, while also booking their place in the quarter-final of the Europa Conference League.
The Austrian has a golden opportunity to exit Selhurst Park in perfect fashion — by getting another trophy under his belt, but the recruitment team must continue making plans for the post-Glasner era, and they have now set their sights on a Manchester City star.
Eagles very keen on signing "special" Man City player
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Crystal Palace have expressed strong interest in signing Rico Lewis, with Man City now willing to sanction a shock sale during the summer transfer window, given that the right-back has struggled for game time this season.
Should Lewis agitate for a move, City won't stand in his way, and several Premier League clubs are waiting in the wings to secure his signature, namely Newcastle United, Sunderland, Everton, Fulham, Brighton and Brentford.

The Englishman, who pockets £25k-a-week, has failed to force his way into Pep Guardiola's plans this season, making just ten Premier League outings, and he is concerned about his lack of minutes.
Palace could do with bringing in a new right-back this summer, given that Nathaniel Clyne is set to turn 35 in just a few days time, and the Man City defender is at the right age to be a solid long-term to the squad, at just 21-years-old.

Crystal Palace are preparing to part ways with Oliver Glasner at the end of the season.
With Daniel Munoz holding down a consistent place in the starting XI, the youngster could find it difficult to nail down a consistent place at right-back from the off, but he is also versatile enough to play at left-back and in defensive midfield.
Lauded as "special" by Statman Dave, Lewis already has plenty of Premier League experience, having made 68 appearances in the competition for City, but the lack of game time this season is concerning, and a move to Palace could be very appealing if they win the Conference League.
