Ahead of the 2026 season, the New York Giants have already made several moves to upgrade the offense. That includes multiple free agent signings at wide receiver and tight end. Team owners, executives, general managers, and head coaches met in Arizona this week for annual league meetings.
On Monday, one free-agent wide receiver made his pitch to New York Giants brass about a potential return in 2026. Despite not playing in 2025, 33-year-old Odell Beckham Jr. is eager to get back on the field. ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that Beckham Jr. met with head coach John Harbaugh and other members of the front office. How realistic is it for Beckham Jr. to play for New York next season?

Why did Beckham Jr. Miss the Entire 2025 Season?
In 2024, Odell Beckham Jr. was a member of the Miami Dolphins. He appeared in nine of their 17 games. Miami released Beckham Jr. in December. It was an underwhelming year for Beckham Jr., and both sides mutually agreed to part ways. On top of this, Beckham Jr. failed a drug test with Miami during his 2024 campaign.
The veteran wide receiver accepted a six-game suspension from the NFL on October 7, 2025. While Beckham Jr. was eligible to return by Week 12, rosters were solidified by that point. A failed drug test cost Beckham Jr. an entire season. However, the one-time Super Bowl champion has not given up on making his way back in 2026.
A Reunion Sounds Nice, But Is It Realistic?
December 8, 2024, was the last time Beckham Jr. played in an NFL game. He finished with one catch for one yard in a 32-26 OT win vs. the New York Jets. For the entire season, Beckham Jr. has just nine catches for 55. By far the lowest of his career. Lack of production is partially why the Dolphis released him. During the 2026 offseason, Beckham Jr. is training as if he is playing next year. One team linked to Beckham Jr. in a possible reunion is the New York Giants.
That’s where the three-time Pro Bowler started it all. Beckham was the 12th overall pick by New York in the 2014 NFL draft out of LSU. The first three seasons of his career were historic. He is the only player in NFL history with 80+ catches and 1,000+ receiving yards in each of his first three seasons.
It’s been a long time since we’ve seen Beckham Jr. in his prime. That doesn’t mean the veteran receiver can’t be a contributor in 2026. Giants starting QB Jaxson Dart has spent time with Beckham Jr. and even posted a picture on his Instagram. Additionally, wide receiver Malik Nabers commented, “Let’s play together,” on a social media post stating Beckham Jr. wants to play in 2026.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan reported that nothing is imminent between Beckham Jr. and the Giants. He did mention the possibility of the team having the veteran wide receiver in for a tryout. If that goes well, New York could pull the trigger and sign Beckham Jr. Until then, the Giants are focused on the 2026 NFL draft.
