Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivers incredible news at his alma mater.

The 2025 season may have been a disappointing one for the Kansas City Chiefs, but there’s no doubt they’ve been on an incredible run over the past decade.

The Chiefs made the postseason each year between 2015-2024, winning the AFC West nine times during that span. They went 5-2 in AFC Championship Game appearances, and 3-2 in Super Bowls. That legendary stretch gave us a lot of memorable games, particularly in the postseason.

This game is what arguably jumpstarted the Kansas City’s dynasty run. It appeared the Chiefs were heading toward another letdown home playoff loss as they quickly faced a large deficit. However, not only did they ended up winning, but blew the Texans out. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report recently ranked it as one of the biggest choke jobs of the century by Houston.

“With a 24-0 lead early in the second quarter, the Houston Texans were firmly in control of their AFC Divisional Round matchup against a Kansas City Chiefs team that was still searching for its first Super Bowl title in 50 years. The Chiefs put 41 unanswered points on the board before the Texans scored again in the closing seconds of the third quarter. Patrick Mahomes threw four touchdown passes during that decisive stretch, and the Texans offense ground to a halt. After the Chiefs scored 10 more unanswered points in the fourth quarter, the Texans were sent packing in one of the most stunning losses in recent playoff history.”

The momentum changed when former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman returned a kickoff 58 yards, setting Kansas City’s offense up with good field position and an eventual touchdown. The comeback was kicked into full gear when the Texans attempted a fake punt, only to be stuffed by former Chiefs safety Daniel Sorensen.

Houston completely folded once the Chiefs took control of the game. Mahomes and tight end Travis Kelce had one of their many legendary postseason performances, connecting on 10 completions for 134 yards and three touchdowns. Kansas City went on to win their second Super Bowl in franchise history two games later.

Other Memorable Chiefs Come-From-Behind Wins

Oddly enough, most of Kansas City’s biggest playoffs wins came when it was trailing. After beating the Texans, the Chiefs trailed the Tennessee Titans 17-7 in the second quarter of the AFC Championship Game, but went on to win 35-24. They were then down 20-10 to the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIV, but came out on top 31-20.

The Chiefs have actually trailed late in all three of their most recent Super Bowl wins. The Philadelphia Eagles got off to a 24-14 lead in Super Bowl LVII, but Kansas City stormed back for a 38-35 win. In Super Bowl LVIII, the 49ers led in both the fourth quarter and in overtime, but the Chiefs pulled it out with a 25-22 walk off victory.
