Amplified: Las Vegas to host 2029 Super Bowl, NFL announces

LAS VEGAS ([FOX5](http://fox5vegas.com/)) — The NFL announced at the owners’ meeting in Phoenix that Las Vegas will host the 2029 Super Bowl, marking the second time the city will host the championship game.

Las Vegas hosted Super Bowl LVIII in February 2023 when the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.

The event brought over $1 billion to the local economy.

“Vegas was built to host these events, these national global events,” said FOX5 Sports reporter Paloma Villacana. “The Chiefs and 49ers Super Bowl, that was so much fun. It was a lot of fun to cover here in Las Vegas. Just logistically, the airport, the strip, the hotels, it was logistically so easy.”

Allegiant Stadium, home of the Raiders, opened in 2020.

Sports landscape expanding

--------------------------

By 2029, Las Vegas will have added Major League Baseball and likely an NBA team to its professional sports lineup. The city will also host the College Football National Championship and Final Four between 2026 and 2029.

“This entire city is going to transform economically, financially, business, sports,” Villacana said. “I mean, it is just booming.”

Golden Knights fire coach

-------------------------

In other Las Vegas sports news, the Golden Knights fired coach Bruce Cassidy on Sunday and immediately named his replacement.

Cassidy led the team to a Stanley Cup championship in 2023.

The new coach previously served as an assistant coach for Team USA and is familiar with the Golden Knights organization.

The team has eight regular season games remaining as it makes a playoff push.

“The expectation here in Las Vegas is to win,” Villacana said. “The losing slump that they’re in right now, that’s not okay for the franchise.”

The Golden Knights reached the Stanley Cup Finals in their inaugural 2017-18 season.
