Argentine starlet Franco Mastantuono has fueled rumors of a swoop by Real Madrid, confirming he would relish the chance to reunite with Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez at the Bernabeu.
Enzo Fernandez and Chelsea are heading down a bad path right now. Despite being the club’s vice-captain and contracted until 2032, the 25-year-old has done little to quell rumors of a summer move to Real Madrid, openly comparing the Spanish capital to his beloved Buenos Aires.
With Chelsea currently sitting sixth and facing the prospect of another season without Champions League football, Fernandez has notably refused to commit to the club beyond the 2026 World Cup.
While Liam Rosenior considers Enzo a cornerstone of his side, the midfielder’s stalling contract talks and interest in reuniting with compatriots like Franco Mastantuono suggest his heart may already be in Spain.

Franco Mastantuono wants Enzo Fernandez at Real Madrid
In an interview shared by DSports, Franco Mastantuono was asked about the possibility of Enzo Fernandez joining him at Real Madrid in the summer.
He wants a reunion but did state that he’s heard nothing about the move.
‘Would you like to have Enzo as a teammate at Real Madrid?’
“Of course I’d like that, I don’t know anything to be honest.”
FINAL: Who do YOU think should be Chelsea manager next season?
Enzo Fernandez’s ties to Real Madrid
The fact that Enzo Fernandez already has ties to players at Real Madrid won’t help Chelsea’s cause, especially as he’ll play with one in Mastantuono at the World Cup.
Enzo has openly shared his desire to play alongside fellow countryman and Real Madrid starlet Franco Mastantuono, who recently joined Los Blancos from River Plate.
While Fernandez’s £100 million-plus valuation and contract through 2032 remain significant hurdles, the presence of Mastantuono and the club’s long-standing interest have made the Bernabeu an increasingly likely escape route from Chelsea’s current instability.
