What Enzo Fernandez has been doing on the pitch that has annoyed Chelsea players

Enzo Fernandez has made himself unpopular with Chelsea fans following his recent comments about his future, and the players are not too happy with how he is carrying himself on the pitch too.

Fernandez has continued to state his love for the city of Madrid upon rumours that Real Madrid could look to sign him at the end of the season.

Despite Chelsea’s price tag being too high for Madrid, this has not stopped him adding fuel to the fire about his discontent at Stamford Bridge at the moment.

Chelsea players frustrated by Enzo Fernandez’s antics on the pitch

This frustration has boiled over on occasion on the pitch too. Fernandez was spotted laying into Filip Jorgensen amid his nightmare performance in the Champions League defeat to PSG.

This has not gone down brilliantly with the Chelsea players. According to The Telegraph, some of the squad have become frustrated with the way he is carrying himself on the pitch.

The report goes on to say this conduct has continued into the dressing room, particularly during the last two games where he has donned the captain’s armband in place of Reece James.

Fernandez is enjoying a very strong season personally. He currently sits on 12 goals and six assists so far this season.

He is also one of the players who has stepped up his game since Liam Rosenior joined the club, although this could count for nothing if he is pushing for the exit door this summer.

Chelsea eyeing Fernandez replacement

The Blues have a number of names on their radar for potential Fernandez replacements should he end up getting his move away from the club this summer.

Adam Wharton is Chelsea’s number one target for a new midfielder this summer, although he is going to command a high fee following his excellent form for Crystal Palace.

The Blues are also closing in on signing Valentin Barco from Strasbourg. He has redefined himself as a central midfielder after originally featuring as a full-back.

The youngster recently outshone Fernandez on international duty, scoring his first goal for his country off the bench.
