Newcastle United submit€25m offer–Magpies trying to beat Arsenal, may need€15m more

Newcastle United

Newcastle United have already made their transfer move for Palmeiras teenager Eduardo Conceição, placing themselves at the front of a growing Premier League queue for one of Brazil’s most talked-about prospects.

The 16-year-old attacker has yet to debut for Palmeiras’ senior side, but interest from England has been building for months.

Clubs across the Premier League have tracked him closely since his performances at youth level, particularly during the Brazilian Youth Cup in January. Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City were mentioned at the time.

Newcastle United step forward with transfer move

While several English sides have been monitoring the situation, Newcastle United stand out as the only club to take a decisive step so far. According to RTI Esporte, they have submitted an offer worth around £21.5m (€25m), which Palmeiras have quickly rejected.

UOL then add that Palmeiras have already turned down two offers from English clubs, with one proposal reaching close to £26m (€30m) including bonuses. The identities of those clubs were not disclosed, but the Premier League remains the clear source of the strongest interest.

Internally, Palmeiras believe they can secure at least £34m (€40m) for Eduardo in the future. That expectation explains their firm stance in negotiations.

Arsenal among first to move – but now crowded out

Earlier interest from Arsenal placed them among the first English clubs to make contact with Eduardo’s camp. However, the situation has since evolved into a much broader race.

Alongside Arsenal and Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester City have all made approaches or enquiries. For Newcastle United, that creates transfer urgency. They were first to bid, but now face competition from clubs with deeper track records in this market.

European pressure and long-term timeline

Interest is not limited to England. Barcelona also continue to monitor Eduardo closely. Scouts have followed his development since he was 14, and contact with his representatives has remained frequent.

Despite the growing attention, any transfer remains a long-term project. Eduardo can only move to Europe once he turns 18, in December 2027. Palmeiras are using that timeline to their advantage.

Development plan and Palmeiras strategy

Eduardo has already signed a professional contract until January 2029, with a release clause set at £86m (€100m). The club’s plan mirrors the pathway taken by Endrick and Estevão, both sold for major fees after being carefully integrated into the first team.

Palmeiras want Eduardo to follow the same route. He is expected to feature in the club’s transition group soon, with opportunities in the senior squad likely before any transfer is considered.

At youth level, the numbers support the hype. Eduardo has five goals and three assists in 13 matches for the under-20s this season.

He combines close control with pace and confidence in one-on-one situations, which explains the comparisons made internally to players like Vinícius Júnior.

For Newcastle United, the early bid shows transfer intent. However, with Arsenal and several other Premier League clubs already involved, this is no longer a quiet pursuit. It is a competitive race that has only just begun.
