Joe Flacco, Who Won’t Be Starting QB, Speaks Out on Bengals Return

The Cincinnati Bengals are bringing back veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, a move that adds experience to the roster despite a defined role. The longtime signal-caller addressed his return while acknowledging he is not expected to be the team’s starter.

Flacco made it clear that his decision was influenced by his comfort with the organization. His previous time in Cincinnati helped establish relationships that made the possibility of returning a natural fit.

Although he remains a competitor, Flacco recognized that starting opportunities can be limited at this stage of his career. Still, he viewed the Bengals as a place where he could contribute while remaining in a familiar environment.

His connection with the coaching staff and teammates played a significant role in shaping his outlook. Those relationships created a sense of stability that factored into his willingness to return even in a supporting role.

Flacco recently spoke about returning to Cincinnati on a new deal even though he won’t start for the team. This can be seen in an article by DJ Siddiqi for Ratings.

“I said from the beginning when I left there, I could see a world where I ended up signing back here,” said Flacco. “I really like the organization and mainly the coaches and the teammates that I was able to play with there. I think when you make those connections, it gives you a little soft spot for an organization like that, but just like we talked about it, ideally you like to go play somewhere. But if there isn’t one of those opportunities that present itself, then that is a place that I feel very at home at and comfortable with.”

For Cincinnati, the move provides a veteran presence in the quarterback room. Flacco’s experience offers depth and leadership, helping to support the team’s overall structure heading into the season.

As the Bengals prepare for the year ahead, Flacco’s return reflects a mutual understanding between player and organization. The arrangement highlights the value of familiarity and trust as both sides look to build on their existing foundation.
