Cleveland Browns News and Rumors 04/02/26: Creative Outlets for Everyone

CLEVELAND, OHIO (TheOBR.com) - Good morning, Cleveland Browns fans!

Everyone needs a creative outlet. Rare is the human being who doesn't devote themselves to something they want to perfect. Maybe it's a golf swing; maybe it's having the best possible yard; maybe there are secret writers and poets among us who are waiting for the right time to share their work. My wife, for instance, works in an office building during the day, but is passionate about cooking and exploring new things in that domain. Unfortunately, her hobby has the side effect of hampering my efforts to lose weight, but she's earnest about cooking healthy, so I can't really blame her.

Cleveland Browns quarterback and sometimes-pariah Deshaun Watson is reportedly working on his craft down in South Florida, training with wide receiver Jerry Jeudy. I don't think this will influence Todd Monken much, who will go about his business of evaluating the Browns' myriad quarterback options with hopefully unbiased eyes. If it improves Watson's game to work with a wide receiver down in sunny South Florida, then so be it. That fact that he's made an effort won't matter, I expect, as it's only the efforts of the observed field of play that should bias Monken's decision.

I think too much is being made of Monken's comments about reps - an always-serious topic in quarterback-deprived Cleveland. Monken has undoubtedly been watching tape, but will probably simply take the direction of focusing on players who make the best first impression on him, likely during "voluntary" practice sessions right around the draft. I doubt that Watson will blow people away off the bat, simply because he hasn't played for a while and needs to "re-learn" the game as someone whose mobility will be limited due to repeated Achilles surgeries. I join those who think that this probably plays best for Sanders, who has been in the facility for months and is doing/saying all the right things.

Down at Bleacher Report, their creative outlet is coming up with listicles, which tempt you into clicking on them to see if the Browns are mentioned anywhere on the "Ten Top Cornerbacks" list or whatever. Today's listicle is "Top eight players, coaches, and GMs under the most pressure to succeed in 2026". Yes, the Browns are mentioned, and yes, that's Andrew Berry coming in at the second spot. I hate to disagree with the deep analysis of a Bleacher Report listicle, but I think Berry has 2027's draft to get through before his head is really on the chopping block. His boss, Jimmy Haslam, knows that the quarterback question won't be answered until then, in all likelihood. Haslam's creative outlet, it appears, is spending money and building stuff, which I believe to be as good as anything.

In other news that will make your Monday nights slightly less hectic, the NFL has officially ended Monday Night Football doubleheaders. The experiment — if you want to call it that — had mixed reviews, with many fans frustrated by the late start times for the second game. Since it's a late night for me, if I'm still awake at 9PM, that means one more game each week that I have a chance at seeing. I'm not staying up until 1AM to see if the Cardinals can beat the Seahawks or whatever. A single Monday Night Football game is the way that it should be, and they need to start by 8PM. I have spoken on this, and will not be taking any questions.

Obviously, my creative outlet is sleeping, and I'm damn good at it.

Have a good one! GO BROWNS!

The 4 ways science confirms the Moon landings were real

I apologize in advance if you're a "Moon Landings Were Faked" conspiracy theorist, but I have no doubt they happened and left behind traces of their existence, such as lunar landers and a bunch of moon rocks. We're going back to the moon again, this time hopefully to stay, but I always wonder why we've decided to do so on rockets and not on spacecraft that can take off from land in a more traditional way. Rockets seem dangerous, expensive and impractical. I say this from my deep understanding of astrophysics and aeronautics, which is to say, from reading Space.com at times. So, don't argue with me, unless you like half-baked logic thrown back at you.
