New Bucs linebacker Christian Rozeboom.

Yes, the Bucs signed the Panthers leading tackler in the second wave of free agency, inside linebacker Christian Rozeboom.

The veteran starter had 122 tackles last season, including 7 tackles for loss and 2 sacks. He had a 135 tackles for the Rams in 2024.

Buccaneers Ring of Honor general manager Jason Licht talked about Rozeboom this week at the NFL owners meetings in Arizona.

Joe asked Licht why he signed Rozeboom.

> “Tough, he’s very instinctive, he’s competitive,” Licht began. “You know, I think he kind of fits the mold of what we’re looking for in the type of attitude that we’re looking for. He’s played a lot of games. He’s been very good on special teams. I think he’s going to compete for a job for significant playing time. But at the end of the day, whatever his role is we’re going to be happy to have him.”

Joe is confident Rozeboom will compete for a starting job with whatever rookie inside linebacker the Bucs draft. Obviously, big money free agent inside linebacker Alex Anzalone will be locked in starter at the other inside linebacker job.

Rozeboom, 29, smells like quality depth. But Joe was intrigued by Licht’s special teams comment on Rozeboom, who did not play special teams last season. Most of his experience there came with the Rams in 2022, 2023 and 2024.

The Bucs really have pushed hard this offseason to improve their special teams. And that started with adding former Steelers special teams coordinator Danny Smith. Man, Joe heard fun and inspiring stories about Smith at the owners meetings. He’s already had a positive impact in various ways.
