The latest team news and injury updates as Manchester City host Liverpool FC in the FA Cup.
Liverpool expect to have both Mohamed Salah and Federico Chiesa available for their trip to face Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-final this weekend.
Salah was absent from Liverpool's defeat to Brighton before the March international due to a muscle issue and did not feature for Egypt, while Chiesa withdrew from the Italy squad due to injury. Arne Slot is confident the pair will be available for selection on Saturday afternoon, though star goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss the match due to injury.
In terms of other team news, Jeremie Frimpong is set for a late fitness test after he suffered an injury scare on international duty with the Netherlands earlier in the week. Manchester City vs Liverpool team news and injury latest
Speaking to the official club website in midweek, Liverpool head coach Arne Slot provided an injury update ahead of the FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City.
"Close, very close," he said when asked about Mohamed Salah. "Another example of what makes him special because the moment he got injured there was a bit of a situation where they thought, 'I don't think he's available for City.' But Mo looked at me and said, 'I think I will be available for City.'
"He just does so much for his body for such a long time that he recovers so fast. So, he will train with the team again tomorrow and if everything works well then he's available to be with us at City."
He added: "Jeremie, the national team doctor of the Netherlands tells us that it was precautionary that they took him out. But he will have a scan later today to see. Alisson will be out for a bit longer. And Federico indeed came back from the national team, where he wasn't able to play. But he trained with us today, so he will train with us tomorrow again and will be available for the game on the weekend."
Pep Guardiola will provide an update on City's injury situation when he holds his pre-match press conference later in the week. Ruben Dias and John Stones are both doubts for the match, while Josko Gvardiol remains sidelined.
