Commanders’ GM Adam Peters adds intrigue to Washington’s uniform rumors

The WashingtonCommanders have sparked fresh excitement ahead of their April 15 uniform reveal, and general manager Adam Peters has added intrigue with subtle hints.

The post mentioned, “Special delivery… see you April 15” along with the message ‘New Uniforms’.

Team owner Josh Harris recently said the new look will balance tradition with a modern touch.

“Our uniforms are similar,” Harris said, via The Athletic’s Nicki Jhabvala. “I mean, the Super Bowl Era uniforms — there are many ways to honor our past.”

Peters, however, played it coy during an appearance with Kay Adams. When asked directly, he smiled and avoided specifics, but referenced last season’s throwback uniforms.

“It’s just… I mean, it’d be really cool if they did that,” Peters said. “I loved, like, when we did the throwbacks last year. Yeah… how cool those were and how much the fans loved those. So any more leaning into our history, I think, would be really cool, but I’m not gonna be the one to drop any [hints].”

All signs point to a return of the classic burgundy jerseys paired with white pants, a combination closely tied to Washington’s Super Bowl success. Reports also suggest a possible alternate uniform and changes to helmet design, which remain the biggest mystery.

Commanders’ difficulties in the last NFL season

The timing of this rebrand push is notable. Washington is coming off a difficult 5–12 season, marked by defensive struggles and inconsistency.

The Commanders faced an eight-game losing streak, putting pressure on the team. Injuries to Jayden Daniels and Terry McLaurin impacted the offense, while the defense ranked last in total yards allowed.

Rookie Daniels showed promise, but Marcus Mariota handled several starts. The rushing attack remained a bright spot, and Tress Way earned Pro Bowl honors.

In the 2026 offseason, Peters focused on youth and speed. Key additions included Odafe Oweh, Leo Chenal, Amik Robertson, and Chig Okonkwo. Several veterans departed, signaling a roster reset aimed at long-term improvement.

The franchise is clearly aiming to reset both on and off the field, with Peters leading roster changes.
