Furious John Obi Mikel has told Enzo Fernandez to "f*** off if he's had enough" after the Chelsea star dropped multiple hints over a possible move to Real Madrid. Fernandez, 25, recently made headlines by revealing that could leave Chelsea after this summer's World Cup amid links with the Spanish giants.

And in recent days, the Argentina international has furthered the speculation by speaking highly about the city of Madrid, and named club legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modric as two of his idols. Fernandez's comments have brought his commitment to Chelsea into question, having signed for the Blues in 2023 for a staggering £108million.

Mikel has become the most high-profile figure to slam midfielder, who is Chelsea's vice-captain, labelling the hints "very disrespectful". The ex-Blues star began on his Obi One Podcast: "That's not a leader. That's something where if you have leaders - if you have leaders that players respect and look up to - you wouldn't come out and make those statements.

"You'd be thinking, 'How is this going to go down in the dressing room? How is this going to go down with the top players, the big players, when they see this?'

"You were the captain in that game (against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League) and you come out and make those statements… how would that go down well with the senior players in the dressing room?

"He's looked at it and he's thinking, 'Who the f*** is going to hold me responsible in that dressing room?' No one! The leadership is not there. So he thinks, 'I can come out, say whatever the f*** I want, no one is going to hold me responsible', and that's exactly what happened."

Mikel added: "For him to come out and make such a statement after we've been disgracefully dumped out of the Champions League, and you come out after wearing the captain's armband… no player is bigger than the football club.

"If he's had enough, put your hands up, f*** off and we move on. We move on. No player player is bigger than the football club, especially a club as huge as Chelsea.

"You cannot come out and say that, it doesn't matter what is going on. It doesn't matter what is happening, you're being paid handsomely to be at this football club, you should be grateful that you're playing for a club like Chelsea. When you come out and make that statement, that is very, very disrespectful to the football club and to the fans."

After Fernandez's initial comments, Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior held talks with the former Benfica star. "I had a great conversation with Enzo at length this morning at the training ground," he said before his side's 3-0 loss away to Everton.

"Not just about the comments, but the future and how much we want to win the coming games. I would say he made it really clear to me how happy he is here, how much he wants to win for the team, and how passionate he is for this football club. He said also the translation and emotion got misconstrued. He is completely committed to this football club."
