Man Utd plan to clear £62m-a-year in wages by axing four stars in summer exodus - report

Manchester United will be looking to reduce their wage bill significantly in the summer transfer window by offloading some of their high-earners, which will allow them to reinvest in the playing squad, The Telegraph reports.

A major issue for United in recent years has been their recruitment, spending significantly on new additions while offering them ludicrous wages.

The Red Devils do appear to be heading in a new direction under the guidance of INEOS, and their recruitment last summer has already been proven to be a success.

Senne Lammens, Matheus Cunha, Benjamin Sesko, and Bryan Mbeumo have all delivered at various points in the season, and given most of their age profiles, they're bound to develop and grow over the years.

Now, United look set for a busy summer once again.

Man Utd to Offload 4 Stars

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro waves at fans

According to a report from The Telegraph, United are looking to offload in the region of £1.2m a week in wages by allowing Casemiro, Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, and Marcus Rashford to head through the exit door.

That works out at around £62 million saved a year in wages, which will give United a huge boost in the transfer market when it comes to bringing in new additions.

It's already been confirmed that Casemiro will be leaving Old Trafford in the summer, while Hojlund, Sancho, and Rashford, who are all currently out on loan, are also likely to depart.

United won't necessarily need to bring in replacements for the aforementioned players who are out on loan, but Casemiro has played a key role this season, so signing a new midfielder is likely to be a major priority in the coming months.

Wages Saved Could Fund New Signing

Matheus Cunha vs Arsenal

Offloading £62m in wages is in and around the figure United paid to bring Cunha to the club last summer.

That's before taking into account any transfer fees United can bring in through the aforementioned sales, so the money saved purely through wages is going to have a major impact on the upcoming window.

If United can recoup some of the money they paid for Hojlund and receive a reasonable fee for Rashford, it could help fund an exciting summer transfer window for the Red Devils.

Sancho and Casemiro will likely depart for nothing, but there's a chance United's transfer kitty could still be boosted significantly.
