Bengals trade idea would move on from Tee Higgins to fix defense after another horrible showing last season

The [Cincinnati Bengals](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/cincinnati-bengals) have already lost a few players this offseason, but are hopeful that with a healthy Joe Burrow next season, they can be an above-average team.

We'll see how that goes, but the Bengals still have a lot they need to improve on, which could ultimately lead to them moving on from players who some fans won't want to trade.

According to [John Kosko of PFF](https://www.pff.com/news/draft-2026-nfl-draft-every-nfl-teams-most-valuable-trade-asset), Tee Higgins would be the guy to trade if the Bengals ever decide to go that route to bring value back to the organization.

“While Joe Burrow may not be thrilled, the Bengals need to address their defense to better complement their top-tier offense. Higgins brings reliability and big-play ability, even with some injury concerns, and his contract structure offers cap flexibility for both sides.”

“He has shown flashes of true No. 1 receiver ability but is arguably the league’s best No. 2, instantly elevating any passing attack. Moving Higgins would allow Cincinnati to reshape its receiver room while acquiring valuable draft capital or defensive help.”

Just like Kosko spoke about here, moving on from Higgins wouldn't be due to the fact that he's not an elite player.

The problem here is that the Bengals' defense has continued to be one of the worst in the NFL, and trading one of their two star wide receivers could potentially help them change that.

Moving on from Ja'marr Chase just isn't likely, or wouldn't make any sense, so Higgins would be the first in line here.
