Udinese are eager to secure Thomas Kristensen with a new deal, amid interest from AC Milan among other clubs.
Back in November, it was reported that Kristensen had risen to near the top of Milan’s list of targets for the centre-back role. La Gazzetta dello Sport even claimed that an attempt was being lined up for the winter mercato, but in the end nothing really came of it.
Milan’s interest remains
According to Messaggero Veneto (via MilanNews), the Bianconeri have intensified discussions regarding the Danish defender’s contract extension, with the goal of finalising new terms by April.
His current contract expires in 2028, but the Friulian club want to reward him with a significant salary increase. The aim is to exceed the current base salary (around €400,000 plus bonuses), bringing his salary to a level commensurate with a key player in Kosta Runjaic ‘s squad.
The move serves to protect his value in the face of increasingly concrete interest, because Kristensen’s physical and technical growth has not gone unnoticed. Last summer, English clubs such as Tottenham, Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest expressed interest, as well as Bologna in Italy.
In recent weeks, however, Juventus and Milan have also made exploratory inquiries. They are attracted by the potential in a player capable of operating both as a middle and outside centre-back in a three-man defence, or potentially in a pairing too.
