Kirk Cousins Shockingly Passes Patriots Legend In NFL Career Earnings

Kirk Cousins may not be a Hall of Fame quarterback, but he definitely has a Hall of Fame agent.

Cousins reportedly signed a new contract with the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday worth $172 million over five years. In reality, however, it is a one-year, fully-guaranteed $20 million deal that also contains a club option for two years at $80 million, according to NFL insider Adam Schefter.

That marks the 11th straight NFL season in which Cousins’ contract will be fully guaranteed. The $20 million guaranteed will also bring his NFL career earnings to a whopping $341 million, passing New England Patriots legend Tom Brady for third-most in league history behind Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers.

Kirk Cousins' $10M guarantee for 2027 means he will surpass Tom Brady in NFL Career Earnings.

Brady earned $332 million in his 23-year career as the greatest quarterback in NFL history. Despite winning seven Super Bowls and three MVP awards, he often accepted reduced salaries to help the Patriots build better rosters around him.

Meanwhile, Cousins is heading into his 15th NFL season, meaning he's played nearly a full decade less than Brady. He's been a good quarterback with four Pro Bowl nods, but he's never received an MVP vote or reached the Super Bowl, let alone won one.

Of the four highest-paid players in NFL history, Cousins is the only one without a Super Bowl ring. Accordingly, he's arguably the most overcompensated player in league history.
