Jets in Mel Kiper's latest ESPN mock draft land new QB, WR, Edge, and CB

This offseason, the New York Jets have built up a strong roster ready for their first four picks of the 2026 NFL Draft at No. 2, 16, 33, and 44.

Some clear players have been routinely linked to the Jets, who, in ESPN's latest mock draft from Mel Kiper, Field Yates, and Matt Miller, are once again mocked to the Jets.

In this latest three-round mock draft, the Jets come out with a new edge rusher and wide receiver, while also landing a cornerback and, most interestingly, a new quarterback as well.

With the second-overall pick, Miller has the Jets taking Arvell Reese, the linebacker/edge rusher hybrid Ohio State defender who has superstar potential. He might be the player more often connected to the Jets at No. 2 than any player this offseason.

Then, with the 16th pick, Yates has the Jets taking Omar Cooper Jr. The Indiana WR would be a great addition opposite Garrett Wilson, even if it might be a little early for him at the 16th pick.

Then, kicking off Round 2 with the 33rd pick, Kiper has the Jets making the splash of the draft, landing a falling Ty Simpson out of Alabama to join Geno Smith in the QB room.

"There isn't much risk in taking Simpson, who had just 15 career starts, all in 2025 - in Round 2," Kiper writes.

While selecting Simpson in Round 1 might be a bit too rich, in this scenario, the Jets get Simpson at a very reasonable cost of one of their second-round picks.

Finally, rounding out the draft, San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson is the predicted selection by Yates with the 44th selection. He'd be a nice Suace Gardner replacement, who has solid athleticism and would fill one of the last needs for the Jets.

While this is a three-round mock from ESPN, the Jets don't have a third, so their three-round haul ends up being Arvell Reese, Omar Cooper Jr., Ty Simpson, and Chris Johnson.

That's a strong draft class, and would help the Jets on both sides of the ball while addressing all of their big positions of need without needing to trade up to acquire anyone, especially Simpson, who at 33rd overall, would be a steal.
