After losing WR Romeo Doubs in free agency, the Green Bay Packers are prepared to lose another receiver, Dontayvion Wicks, with the 2026 NFL Draft in the rear corner. Wicks has been a part of the trade rumblings as the draft approaches, and the Packers have been in contact with at least four teams. Green Bay doesn’t want to move on from Wicks, but with his contract coming up, along with Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Savion Williams and Christian Watson, the team can’t afford to pay all of them. Teams reportedly called on the availability of Reed, but it would likely be Wicks that could be traded on night 1 of the NFL Draft.
Last season, Wicks capped off the 2025 campaign with 30 receptions for 332 yards and two touchdowns. Those numbers are enough at best for a WR3 player, so the Packers could easily replace him if that’s what they want to do. He hasn’t shown much explosiveness like Doubs has to garner a high draft pick in return. Still, the team could receive solid draft capital given Dontayvion Wicks’ potential.
“Multiple Teams” Connected to Former Packers Fifth-Rounder Dontayvion Wicks as 2026 NFL Draft Approaches
However, the wide receiver has had his fair share of inconsistencies. Quarterback Jordan Love is one of the best young arm passers in the league, but Wicks dropped 11 footballs over the past two seasons. It’s hard to imagine Wicks has a future with the Packers as he enters the final year of his rookie deal either way.
Reed and Williams won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, since Reed is in line for an extension and Williams is too young. Watson was a part of trade rumors last offseason before signing an extension, spelling the end of Doubs. Wicks sounds like the latest victim of a trade, and these teams should be interested.
Possible Fits
Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens could use another wide receiver before the 2026 regular season begins. The team has struggled to find a long-term WR3 after going through Diontae Johnson, Odell Beckham Jr. and DeAndre Hopkins. It’s time for the Ravens to solidify the WR unit to help Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. Wicks isn’t going to explode out of the gate, but his presence could help to get Bateman in rhythm, who has struggled to produce any type of production.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, the Panthers have officially opened their championship window this upcoming season. After signing Jaelan Phillips to strengthen their defense, the Panthers finally have a promising linebacker since the Luke Kuechly era, who can produce at a high-level. This means it’s time to put Bryce Young in the best position to win. After snatching Tetairoa McMillan, he has exploded, and Jalen Coker has shown improvement as WR2.
Unfortunately, Xavier Legette has yet to get adjusted, and while he’s been rumored to be traded, the Panthers should grab Wicks as a replacement to solidify the slot route game and get Young more open looks to thrive in the pocket.
Kansas City Chiefs
However, the Chiefs are in dire need of a receiver. Despite retaining Tyquan Thornton, the team could use a short-term WR while they’ll likely draft a replacement after losing Marquise Brown to the Eagles. Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are the top contributors to the Patrick Mahomes offense, but they have been in legal trouble, and it would be hard on Kansas City if they can’t stay out of trouble. Wicks is a solid, cheap complementary fit for an offense that struggled to produce last season.
