Josh Windass has tipped Rangers transfer target to play for Barcelona or Bayern Munich one day

Rangers are understood to be keen on securing the services of Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Pierce Charles.

The Ibrox outfit are eyeing reinforcements in the coming months and Danny Rohl is keen on a reunion with Charles.

Despite having Jack Butland and Liam Kelly as their two main keepers, Rangers are keen on signing the 20-year-old keeper.

Rangers may have to pay six figures to sign Pierce Charles

According to the Daily Record, Rangers could be looking to capitalise on Sheffield Wednesday’s financial situation this summer.

Wednesday may look to cash in on the 20-year-old as he is entering the final year of his contract at the club.

If they do get relegated to League One, they will need to lower their wage bill and that would mean cashing in on some of their players.

The Gers will be able to sign the Manchester-born keeper for six figures, along with add-ons if that happens.

Josh Windass has tipped Charles to play for Barcelona or Bayern Munich

Back in 2025, when the Gers were linked with Charles, Josh Windass waxed lyrical over his ability.

He backed the then 19-year-old for big things and tipped him to play for Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Juventus.

The former Rangers striker was extremely hyperbolic in his praise for Charles, referring to him as the best player in the world.

Windass said: “He’s the best player in the world. He’s 19. If he doesn’t play for Barca, Juventus, Bayern, – one of those teams – I’ll be flabbergasted.”

Thus far, the Ibrox outfit have not touched base with Windass or Wednesday, but it is clear that Rohl rates him highly.

The German shared a good working relationship with him in England and a summer transfer could be on the cards.

It remains to be seen which other clubs show an interest in him and whether or not the Gers can sign him ahead of them.
