Stephon Gilmore last played in the 2024 NFL season with the Minnesota Vikings on a one-year deal.
While that was the last season of his career, the former DPOY winner revealed before the start of the 2025 season that he wanted to continue playing under the “right situation.”
“I want to play this year, it’s just got to be the right situation,” he said, via the NFL. “It’s got to be the right situation for me. I’m not just gonna sign anywhere. … I still love the game. I still can contribute. It’s just got to be the right place.”
Nonetheless, the situation never came through and the cornerback missed out on what would have been his 14th season in the National Football League.
The cornerback ends his career as a Super Bowl winner.
