The new Chelsea away shirt for the 2026/27 season appears to have leaked online ahead of its official release.
The brand new Chelsea away kit for the forthcoming 2026/27 season appears to have been leaked online ahead of its official launch – with photos and digital renders of the jersey appearing on social media.
Footy Headlines have collected what appears to be leaked promo photos of the new shirt from Turkey alongside digital mock-ups of the new kit which appear to corroborate each other. 3 Added Minutes has not been able to verify the leaks at the time of publishing, but full details of the apparent new design are now available below.
What Chelsea’s new away kit for 2026/27 looks like – according to unofficial leaks
Assuming the leaks are proven to be accurate, Chelsea will be sporting a black away jersey for the first time in ten years, and for the first time since Nike took over kit manufacturing duties back in 2017.
The shirt and shorts are both reported to be plain black with ‘midwest gold’ trim down the sides and on the shoulders, as well as on the collar and sleeves in a pattern which has a hint of a military dress uniform about it. The shirt will also use the simplified lion club crest, also picked out in gold along with Nike’s traditional ‘swoosh’ logo. The front of shirt sponsor for next season has not yet been decided.
It’s worth noting that while apparent promo images to be used in marketing campaigns for the new shirt have appeared online, the pictures of Enzo Fernández wearing the new kit in the social media post above are not genuine, but rather an artist’s rendering.
Chelsea have occasionally used black for their third kits since Nike took over as supplier, but they were more commonly used for away jerseys during the previous Adidas and Umbro eras, when they were a common sight away from Stamford Bridge.
Fans react to ‘cold’ new shirt design
The initial reaction from Chelsea supporters online has been largely positive, with a number praising a kit that’s various been described as “cold,” “clean,” and “gorgeous” by fans on X.
While there have been a handful of dissenting opinions voiced, the overall reception to the alleged new look has been particularly warm, with most fans seemingly looking forward to seeing their side in action in the new black and gold shirts.
Details of the new home and third kits have yet to be revealed, while the new main sponsor could impact the eventual reception – Chelsea have been slow to strike front-of-shirt deals in the past two years, suggesting that there is some chance that the new kits could be available sponsor-free when they are eventually released. The official launch date is not yet known.
It also remains to be seen whether Chelsea will be sporting their new jerseys in the Champions League next season – having been knocked out of this year’s competition by PSG in the last 16, the Blues are currently struggling to keep up with the top four and went into the March international break on a four-game losing streak. The club will certainly hope that their seemingly popular new shirt shows up on Europe’s biggest stage, but at least it’s striking a chord with the supporters during a rather worrying run of form.
