Tommy Marques is one of the young academy talents who has won over Hansi Flick this season and even earned a debut in first-team football as a result.
The youngster, who is seen as one of the academy’s most promising young midfield talents, played for the senior team in their win over Mallorca earlier this season and has regularly been a part of the team’s training sessions and matchday squads.
When Frenkie de Jong was recently injured, moreover, Hansi Flick saw him as capable of filling that void in the team – a clear mark of the trust he maintains in the youngster.
A promotion next season
Now, as confirmed in an exclusive report to Barça Universal by Miquel Blazquez, Marquez has been informed that he will be promoted to the first team next summer and that he will have more minutes under Hansi Flick.

The manager sees the player as a top talent and wishes to hand him more prominence, especially with the uncertainty around Marc Casado’s future, as the midfielder is linked with a potential move to Saudi Arabia.
Given his lack of minutes and the growth of Marc Bernal, Casado may well leave the club in the summer, and the plan is for Tommy to replace him in the squad and thereby assume a rotational role to begin with.
From the player’s perspective, all Tommy is looking for is playing time, and he will decide his long-term future in the first team based on the same.
If he does not see regular minutes by January 2027, he might look for an exit from the club. As it stands, however, he too is excited at the prospect of joining the first team, and he will look to make the most of this golden opportunity.
