BREAKING: Enzo Fernandez dropped for two Chelsea matches as Liam Rosenior takes ruthless action

Liam Rosenior has provided an update on Enzo Fernandez ahead of Chelsea's clash against Port Vale. The Blues midfielder cast doubt over his future at Stamford Bridge during the international break, leaving the door open to a move in the summer transfer window.

Speaking to reporters at Cobham on Friday morning, the Chelsea boss announced that disciplinary action has been taken against Fernandez. The Argentina international will miss the FA Cup quarter-final on Saturday evening, as well as the clash against Manchester City in the Premier League next weekend.

Rosenior said: "I spoke with Enzo an hour ago. As a football club, with me as part of the decision, he won't be available for tomorrow's game or Manchester City next Sunday. A line was crossed in terms of our culture and what we want to build."

Rosenior added: "Enzo, firstly, as a character, a person and a player, I have the utmost respect. He's frustrated because he wants us to be successful. In terms of the decision, it's not all about me, or the sporting directors, the ownership, the players, we are aligned in our decision.

"The door is not closed on Enzo. It's a sanction. You have to protect the culture and in terms of that, a line was crossed."

Marc Cucurella also raised eyebrows during the international break when he suggested that a return to Barcelona would be difficult to turn down. The Chelsea defender also questioned the direction of the club and its transfer policy.
