The defender talked about her recovery after a long injury and her new goals for the future. Fiorentina will face Juventus at the Stadio Curva Fiesole: it will be a crucial match in determining who will qualify for the Champions League.
“At first, when I was called up by the coach, I couldn’t believe it. I didn’t see it coming. It felt as though I had been away from the pitch for a very long time. I was relaxed and wasn’t intimidated by what was at stake. Playing in front of my family and friends was very exciting, although I tried to hide it as best I could.
“Seeing my team-mates so happy to have me back on the pitch was an unusual feeling, in a good way of course. The recovery process was long and difficult and having people there supporting you is not a given. Those who choose to be there for you are those who really matter. So then, it’s nice to share happy moments with those closest to me.
“Playing against Juventus is never easy as you can afford to make very few mistakes. You get few chances and you have to capitalize on them. I hope we learned our lesson from last Sunday’s match.
“Playing for Juventus means being under a lot of pressure to win, which can be a double-edged sword. It doesn’t always help. On the other hand, that’s their number one goal. We must prevent them from winning. But above all, we must improve on what we failed to do last weekend.
“I haven’t thought about what my next goals are, as I didn’t expect to be back on the pitch so soon. My next goals will be to clock up more minutes and play as much as possible.”
