Liam Rosenior has leaped to the defence of Enzo Fernandez, insisting that the midfielder’s recent frustrations stem from a desire to see Chelsea succeed rather than any lack of commitment.
Enzo Fernandez has found himself in the crosshairs of both the Chelsea hierarchy and a frustrated fanbase following a series of unauthorised interviews.
Following on from the post-PSG comments, Enzo thought it would be a good idea to speak positively about potentially moving to Real Madrid this summer.
In response, Liam Rosenior has dropped Fernandez from Chelsea’s squads to face Port Vale and Manchester City in the Premier League, in an attempt to put his foot down.
During this process, the midfielder was able to share what is making him so frustrated at Chelsea.

Enzo Fernandez shares his frustration at Chelsea
In calming talks with Liam Rosenior, Enzo Fernandez has shared the reason behind his frustration is that Chelsea are not challenging for trophies this season.
The Chelsea boss provided an update on the matter.
“Enzo, firstly, as a character, a person and a player, I have the utmost respect. He’s frustrated because he wants us to be successful.
“In terms of the decision, it’s not all about me, or the sporting directors, the ownership, the players, we are aligned in our decision. The door is not closed on Enzo. It’s a sanction. You have to protect the culture and in terms of that, a line was crossed.”

Liam Rosenior needs to go one step further
Suspending Fernandez for two games is a step in the right direction, but to really make a statement, he should consider removing him of his vice captaincy role.
Levi Colwill is now back in full training, while Moises Caicedo is perfectly capable of taking the armband in his absence. Especially when you consider the Chelsea players have grown frustrated with Fernandez.
At this point, a move to Real Madrid looks inevitable for Fernandez. You wouldn’t flirt this much with the opportunity if you weren’t actively wanting a move, so why not make an example of him to send out a warning to any other player who wants to act similarly.
